Liz Wilsons künstlerische Praxis bewegt sich an den Grenzen von Druckgrafik, bewegtem Bild, Ton und Skulptur. Sie untersucht die Zeitspanne zwischen dem industriellen und dem postindustriellen Zeitalter – insbesondere den Beginn der Automatisierung und die Frage, wie diese unsere Beziehung zur Technologie verändert. Indem sie Ortsbesichtigungen als Katalysator für die Recherche, das Schreiben und die Produktion von Werken nutzt, fasziniert sie das Mensch-Maschine-Verhältnis im Sinne von „Dirigent“ und „Orchester“ und wie sich diese performativen Rollen sowohl in unserer natürlichen als auch in unserer vom Menschen geschaffenen Umwelt manifestieren.

Seit ihrem Master-Abschluss (MA) in Fine Art am Royal College of Art hat Wilson national und international in renommierten Institutionen ausgestellt, darunter das Taoxichuan Museum of Art (China), OGA (Rom), der Parc de la Villette (Paris) und die Hockney Gallery (London). Im Jahr 2019 erhielt sie den ersten digitalen Auftrag für Art in Manufacturing im Rahmen des National Festival of Making in Zusammenarbeit mit Deco Publique, Super Slow Way und dem Arts Council England, was in der Installation The Optical Mechanical gipfelte.

Im Jahr 2020 absolvierte sie eine siebenmonatige Residenz bei Coachworks, die gemeinsam von Turner Works und dem Ashford Borough Council in Auftrag gegeben wurde. In Zusammenarbeit mit Hitachi Rail Ltd. entstand dabei das Werk The Orchestrated Unconscious. Dies führte zu einer weiteren Förderung durch den Arts Council England für eine Kooperation mit CNC Robotics, aus der Within the Wake (2022) hervorging – eine Arbeit, die beim National Festival of Making präsentiert und in die Future Now-Anthologie von Aesthetica aufgenommen wurde. Zuletzt schuf sie OF CONFLUENCE (2024), eine immersive Installation, die als Teil des Begleitprogramms zum Turner Prize in Partnerschaft mit der Blackshed Gallery, dem Talent Accelerator im De La Warr Pavilion, Eastbourne Alive und dem Rother District Council in Auftrag gegeben wurde. Das in Zusammenarbeit mit lokalen Gemeinschaften entwickelte Werk führte Ton, Skulptur und bewegtes Bild zusammen, um die Ökologie des Gezeitenflusses zu erforschen.

Im Jahr 2025 kuratierte Wilson eine große Ausstellung mit dem Titel Radical Pairings beim National Festival of Making, in der sie auch selbst ausstellte. Zeitgleich erschien dazu ein kritischer Essay von Elizabeth Fullerton (Kunstkritikerin und Autorin für The New York Times und Art Monthly). Im selben Jahr kam ihre Arbeit in die engere Auswahl für die Bloomberg New Contemporaries und sie stellte im Rahmen des Aesthetica Art Prize in York aus. Zu den jüngsten Ausstellungen gehört die Royal Birmingham Society of Artists. Zudem ist sie Preisträgerin des BBA Art Prize, wobei ihre Arbeiten für eine Präsentation in der BBA Gallery im Jahr 2027 geplant sind.
