Per Schorn - The Photo Booth Book, Yellow Cover

For twelve years, Per Schorn captured the essence of over 130 bands in his self-built photo booth. Four photos per musician, four per band, one shot every five seconds, with no retakes. The result? A collection of raw, spontaneous portraits of iconic musicians and bands from the punk rock, hardcore, and alternative scenes.

It all began with Rival Schools, when singer Walter Schreifels asked Per for promotional photo ideas for their upcoming tour. The next day, Per arrived at the venue with a prototype of his booth. Walter’s encouragement sparked a decade-long journey, as Per photographed his way through his record collection, bringing the booth to venues, concerts, and festivals across Germany, Belgium, and the US. Legendary bands like Descendents, Bad Religion, Frank Turner & The Sleeping Souls, Sick of It All, The Dillinger Escape Plan, Gorilla Biscuits, Beatsteaks, and many more stepped inside.

Now, designer Fred Beier has transformed these images into what Brian Baker calls a "punk rock yearbook." A one-of-a-kind tribute to the scene, limited to 13 copies at the BBA Gallery.
