Miila H. is a visual artist and professional hairdresser who works with one of the most personal materials: human hair. Her process begins when hair is cut. This marks a moment of change. What usually falls to the floor as waste becomes, in her hands, a useful natural fibre for artistic expression.

She continues the transformation and creates objects that explore the potential of this often-discarded material. Her works range from practical items to sculptural pieces, all crafted from a versatile and unexpected natural fibre.

The piece Hair in Transit is made from the hair of people who, like herself arrived in Berlin from different places. Each strand carries a trace of change. The bag becomes a soft monument to travel, migration, transformation and the encounters that happen along the way.
