Red Fountains II, 2020
Description
My installations can be seen as fragmentary notes on contemporary human
existence. The poetically encoded themes of the works emerge in dialogue with the constantly changing global realities .They hint political, social and meta-physical questions: man’s struggle for orientation in this rappidly altering world.
The often multi-part serial works are made of divers materiels : A material I frequently use is the fibre of hemp, which is interesting because of its flexibility, hairy structure, and natural tendency towards chaos. By different work procedures such as colouring, drying, compressing or combining it with gelatine, wax or different polymeric substances, I can harden or soften the material partially, which makes it possible to work with bold contrasts. The very evocative quality of the fibre helps me to create metaphors for elementary human mental or instinctive feelings such as joy, fear, aggression, silence, loneliness, loss etc. Wire, rubber, acrylic resin, paper , porcelain and pigments expand the range of materials I use.
Through their sensual materiality and ambiguity of expression, the installations trigger associations and subconscious emotional responses that lead to very divergent subjective reactions of the individual observer.
