Vladimir Khorev was born in Moscow in 1981 and graduated from the Moscow State Institute of Culture. A professional Argentine tango dancer, he moved to Buenos Aires in 2009 to study tango, returning to Moscow in 2012. Since then, he has travelled extensively, participating in international tango festivals and competitions. In 2017, he became a resident of Taipei, Taiwan. Vladimir’s interest in photography began in 2019, and he now focuses on urban photography projects, defining himself as a photographer of everyday life with a keen interest in light, colour, and geometry.

He strives to break the boundaries of photography genres, documenting reality while transforming it into artistic enigma. Rather than seeking a narrative, he follows intuition and visual perception through the optical metamorphoses of the camera lens. His work employs various techniques to express light, color, and form, presenting himself as an observer rather than a participant. Each piece represents a unique world without limits in style or genre, as he explores the streets with wide-open eyes, delving into every alleyway and corner.

The series "Characters" captures the essence of Wanhua District in Taipei, focusing on passers-by near Longshan Temple. By using glass street fencing as an artistic method, Khorev creates semi-surreal images that evoke emotional resonance, emphasising natural light to convey intimate moments of people detached from the city's chaos.
