Description
The 3D-rendered animation follows an otherworldly journey of a fictional character. A fragmented anatomical model with one arm only, the protagonist awakes over a loudspeaker to find herself in whitewashed space. She collected insect specimens to find the world all-encompassingly perfect. Increasingly frustrated about how different she is to her surroundings, she made a final attempt to integrate into the world of purity…
Pure White is a metaphor for the alienation felt within society. Mixing the clinical, the grotesque and the Kitsch, the protagonist serves as an open-ended example of the modern subject. Inviting multiple interpretations, the polished 3D-animations visualise the phenomenon of exclusion - increasingly prominent at an age of air-brushing idealised particular kinds of bodies, which in turn dominated the social media. The protagonist’s last resort for integration reminds us of our own attempt to be accepted by the social norm. The irreconcilable differences between the protagonist and her surroundings remind us of our distance from the ‘perfect’ world.
