Created when Ghone was just 1 year and 11 months old, Grape No. 2 embodies the uninhibited curiosity and instinctive creativity that characterize his early artistic journey. Over the course of nearly a month, he revisited the canvas multiple times, allowing the composition to develop organically through exploration rather than planning.
Ghone began with a vibrant foundation of green and yellow tones before stamping layers of his own custom-mixed red, blue, and purple using a large brush. During one painting session, he spontaneously walked into the kitchen, picked up a handful of fresh grapes, and began rolling them across the canvas with his hands and fingers. The grapes became an unexpected painting tool, creating rich organic textures, rhythmic patterns, and distinctive impressions that could never be replicated.
This playful experiment transformed an everyday object into a unique artistic medium, demonstrating Ghone's natural instinct to explore materials beyond conventional brushes. The resulting surface is filled with energy, movement, and joyful spontaneity—capturing a moment of pure creative discovery.
Grape No. 2 belongs to Ghone's celebrated "Grape" series, which has become one of the most distinctive bodies of work from his early years. The first artwork in the series, Grape No. 1, was sold through an online art auction in Thailand, marking an important milestone in Ghone's emerging artistic career. As the continuation of that series, Grape No. 2 further reflects his boundless imagination and the authenticity of artistic expression seen through the eyes of a very young child.
