Aurora TV reflects Ghone's growing fascination with geometry, color, and the natural wonders of the world. Recently, he has become increasingly interested in identifying and creating shapes such as squares, rectangles, and pentagons, often asking to incorporate masking tape into his paintings to build structured compositions.
For this artwork, Ghone announced that he wanted to create "lots of little squares" across the canvas. Working patiently, he carefully applied strips of masking tape one by one, with a little assistance from his mother, who held the opposite end of each piece while Ghone positioned them himself. The taped grid became the framework for his composition.
Once the pattern was complete, Ghone began filling each square with his own selection of colors. He chose predominantly light, luminous shades, painting each section individually before adding shimmering gold across the surface, allowing the colors to blend and glow beyond the geometric boundaries.
When the painting was finished, Ghone looked at it and declared its title: "Aurora TV." He explained that it was a television showing the Aurora lights.
The idea was inspired by his growing fascination with the Aurora Borealis. After frequently watching videos of the Northern Lights in Europe with his family on television, the vivid ribbons of dancing color became part of his imagination. Rather than painting the landscape itself, Ghone transformed the experience into an abstract composition, where each square becomes a window of light and the golden layers evoke the magical glow of the aurora across the night sky.
Aurora TV beautifully captures the way young children absorb the world around them—blending observation, technology, memory, and imagination into a visual language entirely their own. The artwork also marks Ghone's continued exploration of geometric structure, demonstrating how his artistic process is evolving from free-flowing gestures toward intentional compositions while preserving the spontaneity and joy that define his work.
